Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band

So, it's been 40 years since this album hit the record stores. It's still being played on the radio. What songs from 1927 were being played on the radio in 1967? The poularity of this music is amazing. Hope it sticks around a long, long time. A mono copy with the unique sleeve.

The insert that came with the album

I share your enthusiasm for "Sgt Pepper". I also came to the same observation that songs from 1927 were nowhere to be heard on the radio in 1967, I don't think they were even on KPRO or KFMW at the time.

I'm getting more interested in staying around to see how popular they still are in another 40 years!

Interesting analogy with the
40 year periods. I can't imagine
in 1967 thinking about 1927.
Maybe today's kids think the same way
but Beatles have survived every
generation.

I remember a "debut" the Beatles
had for this album in late June
of 1967. It was in a PBS show
called OUR WORLD. The show used satellites to link various cities world-wide. Beatles in London
did ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE. Rolling
Stones were there and it was
a thrill to watch this back then.
Mediocre with today's technology
but that's what we had and
appreciated it. Watch this
piece if you haven't yet.
It's a video rarely seen but
it was OUR WORLD back then.

RE:Our World
I remember trying to follow directions in the newspaper to make a UHF antenna by nailing straightened wire coat hangers to a long board and hooking it to a wire so I could get KCET or KVCR.
My parents wouldn't let me go up on the roof to nail it up high so I missed it.

I remember that day in 1967
when OUR WORLD ran on PBS. I think
it was a Sunday. I was a student
at KVCR-TV/FM at Valley College in
Berdoo and made sure we recorded
at least the Beatles portion.
I had it at one time but no longer.
Would love to see it again, if only
for it's music historical reasons.

Anyone know where I can find it again?
