Buddy Holly & The Crickets

Probably about 15 years ago I went into a thrift store in Pomona and found a whole bunch of Brunswick 45rpm records that looked brand new. It looked like they came out of an old record store. I got a few new copies of It's So Easy/Lonesome Tears by the Crickets (with Buddy Holly). I also picked up a Think It Over by the Crickets (also like brand new). I was lucky then to find these records. Things like that don't happen anymore. If you have a great record find, tell me about it.

How about this rarity from 61.
There was a song called
"down on my knees" by Walter Vaughn,
Liberty.
I remember it on KFXM back then
and never heard it again.
Found it at a thrift store in
Berdoo.
I never really paid attention to
the lyrics back then but I sure
like the way it sounded. Never
made the national TOP 100.
Turns out, it had relgious
connotations. Not that there's
anything wrong with that (Seinfeld).

That's my contribution for now.

I checked my surveys. That song got up to #2 on July 15, 1961 on KFXM, being stopped by the #1 song Tossing & Turning by Bobby Lewis.
Big hit in San Bernardino/Riverside

Thanks for finding that
"Down On My Knees" song on the
charts. I do remember it being
played a lot but never knew
it was that big in IE. Great
foot stomper. Anyone here ever
remeber it? I have it as an MP3
if you want it.

When I found it in the
thrift store, I asked a guy
that had found records ahead
of me if he knew of this one.
Kinda curious why he passed it up.
He asked " a religious song?".
I said no not remembering any
of the lyrics. Turns out it
did have some religious
connotations.

"Down On My Knees" by Walter Vaughn
is listed as a wax to watch on The
July 21-28 KRLA Tune-Dex. It's
a song I searched for for years and I found on a white Liberty Promo in Bakersfield in the Early '70's.

It was a # 1 song on KLIF in Dallas
on the Duchess label in early '61.

Kind of reminds me of a rockin' Fats Domino!

Yes, I agree it has that
Domino, New Orleans, sound.

Why is it this never made
Billboard 100. No entries
for Walter Vaughn at all.

At first, this record sounds like
a demo. But the music does Rock !!.

Good to find another fan of this.
